Founded in 1965, the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is located in the Greater Montreal Area and is one of the top ranking English School Boards in Quebec. In addition to the basic core curriculum of English, Math, Arts, Science, and History, students have the opportunity to partake the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and French Immersion. Schools in the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board also offer concentration programs in sports and arts for students to focus extra time on their concentration while also succeeding academically. They also offer activities which include community breakfasts, a robotics team, science fairs, career fairs, dances, theme days, game rooms, artistic events, field days and winter carnivals.
FACILITIES
Students have access to state-of-the-art technology which include mobile labs and Smart-boards in every school. Schools in this district have modern facilities such as multi-purpose sports fields, science labs, and auditoriums. The Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is also home to the Arundel nature and Science Center.
SPORTS AND ARTS
Students in the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board can join a wide variety of competitive sports teams from handball to cross country skiing. Some of the most popular sports in the schools are soccer, basketball, and hockey. Schools in this district also offer sports concentration programs for football, hockey, and soccer to give students the benefit of more time within the regular school day to develop their skills.
Students can choose to take art electives as part of their coursework including Visual Arts, Music, Drama, and Dance. Students enter the arts concentration program which gives student the benefit of more time during the regular school day to develop their skills in the fine and creative arts.
