學校簡介

Founded in 1820, St. John’s-Ravenscourt (SJR) is a selective university-preparatory boarding school accepting students in grades 8-11. It is the oldest independent school in Western Canada, and boasts a prestigious history. Amazingly, 100% of graduates are accepted to colleges or universities (97% to their first choice). Students have exclusive access to university advising services, learning support, personal counseling, and career counseling. The school offers six AP courses and ESL.
FACILITIES
St. John’s-Ravenscourt School’s 23-acre campus is located 10 minutes from the center of Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba. Students have access to a state-of-the-art fitness center with a movement studio, an arena, a gymnasium, cardio and weight machines, and more. Boarding students stay in historical homes that act as dormitories and are separated by gender. The school also recently renovated its outstanding science labs.
SPORTS AND ARTS
SJR offers 10 sports and 59 teams at the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity levels. Teams regularly win championships, including indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, badminton, and basketball in 2018.
SJR is also invested in the arts, offering students various opportunities in music, theater, visual arts, and fine arts. Students can act in plays and musicals, take private music lessons, perform in concert bands, or participate in the fashion show.
AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The school’s debate team has won 15 individual world championships—more than any other school in the world. An SJR science teacher was awarded the Manitoba teacher of the year and another was awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence.
DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE
With a 4:1 student to dorm staff ratio, St. John’s-Ravenscourt School’s boarding program has a welcoming, family-like feel. Students participate in regular activities such as ski trips, hockey games, laser tag, movie nights, trips to Canadian and US cities, and more. The campus is located on the banks of the Red River and surrounded by a quiet residential area with lots of trees while only 10 minutes from the city of Winnipeg, the territory’s capital city.
